How to Sell on Wildberries from Abroad: A 2026 Starter Guide
If you want to sell on Wildberries from abroad, the good news is that the door is open: the marketplace has been actively onboarding foreign companies, including sellers from China, Turkey and the CIS, for several years. The less good news is that the rules, fees and logistics options change often. This guide gives you the structure and the logic; always confirm the current numbers in the Wildberries seller portal before you commit stock.
What Wildberries is and why it matters to a foreign seller
Wildberries is the largest marketplace in Russia by order volume and one of the largest in Eastern Europe. It serves well over 60 million active customers in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan through a single seller account, with annual turnover measured in trillions of rubles. For a cross-border seller, that means one listing can reach several countries at once.
Three things define the platform. First, it is mobile-first: most purchases happen in the app, so your product appears as a small thumbnail in a crowded feed. Second, it runs on an enormous network of pickup points, and shoppers routinely order several items to try and return what they do not want. Third, the audience is price-sensitive but very visual: the product card, not the brand name, does most of the selling.
Who can sell on Wildberries from abroad in 2026
Wildberries accepts legal entities registered outside Russia. For Chinese sellers there is a dedicated onboarding track with a Chinese-language interface, a China-based team and payouts to foreign company accounts. In general you will need:
- A registered company (not a private individual) with a corporate bank account.
- The company registration certificate and the ID of the legal representative.
- Trademark documents or brand authorization if you sell branded goods.
- Product documents for regulated categories: declarations or certificates of conformity under the EAEU technical regulations, and registration in the Chestny ZNAK labelling system for categories such as apparel, footwear, perfume and some electronics.
New sellers typically pay a one-time registration (guarantee) fee, which has changed several times and differs by country. Check the exact amount on the seller site; do not rely on forum posts from last year.
Fulfilment models: FBO, FBS and cross-border
The model you choose decides your margins, delivery speed and how much of the operation you control.
- **FBO (Fulfilment by Operator, often called FBW).** You ship stock to Wildberries warehouses in Russia; the marketplace stores, packs and delivers. Fastest delivery and the best position in search, but you need an importer of record and you pay storage.
- **FBS (Fulfilment by Seller).** You hold stock in your own or a partner warehouse in Russia and hand each order to Wildberries within the agreed window. More control, lower storage cost, more daily work.
- **Cross-border.** Goods ship directly from a warehouse in China or another country. No import paperwork on your side at the start, but delivery takes longer, usually a couple of weeks, which hurts conversion against locally stocked competitors.
Most Chinese sellers test demand cross-border, then move their best sellers to FBO through a logistics partner once the numbers justify it.
Fees you should budget for
Wildberries charges a category commission on each sale, typically from a few percent up to roughly a quarter of the price for fashion and some other high-margin categories. On top of that come per-item logistics fees that depend on volume and weight, storage fees for FBO stock, return logistics and optional advertising. Payouts to foreign sellers go to the company account in the agreed currency on the marketplace's schedule.
Build your price in rubles from the bottom up: product cost, international shipping, commission, logistics, expected return rate and ad spend. Many foreign sellers underprice at the start because they forget returns, which in apparel can be substantial.
First steps, in order
- Register the company account and pass verification; this can take from a few days to a few weeks.
- Pick 5–15 products with a clear advantage (price, function or design) rather than your whole catalogue.
- Prepare documents for the category and generate barcodes for every SKU; our [free CODE-128 barcode generator](https://wbgen.ru/en/generator-shk) is built for Wildberries labels.
- Create product cards in Russian: title, attributes, description and a full image set.
- Launch with a small stock, watch the card's click-through and conversion rates in the seller analytics, and improve the card before you scale ads.
Why the product card decides success
On Wildberries the shopper sees your main image at thumbnail size among dozens of similar items. If it does not communicate the benefit in Russian within a fraction of a second, you do not get the click, and nothing else you did matters. Cards machine-translated from English or Chinese, white-background photos without infographics, and sizes without centimetres are the most common reasons a decent product fails here.
Russian shoppers expect a main image with a short benefit headline, a lifestyle photo, close-ups of details, a size or specification card, and clear text about warranty or set contents. Building such a set with a designer costs about $50–150 per product and takes days. WBGen generates a complete Russian-language set with native infographics from a single photo in about 3 minutes, from $0.6 per card; see how card creation works and pricing.
